The Benefits Of A Side Hustle

A side hustle is something you do to earn money in addition to being a student or having a full-time job. To get started, all you need is a ‘can-do’ mindset and an idea of a product or service you want to produce and/or sell. This may tap into one of your passions, or it may be an easy way for you to earn some money. It’s also a great way to test out and increase skills that you already have or want to develop. This could lead to determining your career path or at least give you additional job options.

A side hustle is different than a part-time job. With a part-time job, you have an employer who decides when you will work, what tasks you will perform and how much you will be paid. With a side hustle, YOU are the boss and you have the freedom to decide what the work will entail, and how much you want to work and potentially earn.

A side hustle is a great way to develop your entrepreneurial skills. If you’ve ever been paid to babysit, dog walk, do lawn work around the neighborhood, congrats, you’ve already had a side hustle! Some other popular side hustles include tutoring, translating, house and pet sitting, making and selling crafts, selling goods on E-Bay or Craigslist, being a handyman, playing music, freelance writing, proofreading or editing.

A side hustle looks good on your resume as well. It shows a potential employer that you are self-motivated, responsible and have money management and good follow-through skills.
