How did you learn about this internship opportunity? What career resources from BU or elsewhere did you use during the application and interview process?
I learned about the opportunity through a networking connection with someone at the company. I used BU CCD resources before sending over my resume and consulted the CCD about internship findings along the way.
Why did you choose to apply for this particular internship?
I wanted to work in a newsroom in Boston.
What were your job responsibilities as an intern?
I researched and reported on nonprofit stories throughout the summer.
What was the most rewarding part of your internship?
The most rewarding part of my internship was publishing articles at national and local publications
What was the most challenging part of your internship?
The most challenging part of my internship was taking initiative and speaking to high-level bosses.
What skills, technical or soft, did you develop during your internship?
I learned more about interviewing, 990 researching, reporting techniques, and networking.
What was the most memorable moment of your experience?
the most memorable moment of my expereience was being contacted by Converse when they read a piece I did.
What is the biggest takeaway from your internship experience?
My biggest takeway was that people are happy to, and want to talk to you.
Is there anything you wish you would have done differently during your internship?
I wish I had a more concrete plan with my supervisors at the onset of my internship.
What advice would you give to another student about making the most of an internship, job, or other career-related experience?
Ask to get coffee with as many people as possible and hear about their career trajectories. It’s especially useful to hear from people who are recent grads.
