Student Internship Stories: Brigid Kane (COM’22) Katch Media

CCD: Tell us about your experience. What were your responsibilities?

BK: I was a media genome analyst with Katch Media. My responsibilities included watching and analyzing movies in order to code them via the Katch Media Genome, rating movies on the Katch App to provide feedback on functionality and reliability, and participating in focus groups and presentations.

CCD: How did you get the opportunity? What resources at BU or elsewhere did you use?

BK: One of my good friends who also attends BU recommended the company to me. She had an amazing summer internship experience with them, so I thought that it would be an excellent opportunity. Networking with friends is kind of awesome!

CCD: What was the best thing about the experience? What was the worst?

BK: The best part was meeting people from around the country (and world) who all had different experiences and perspectives. I got to work with a lot of cool people who I now consider friends. I can’t think of the “worst” experience, but time management became tricky with handling work and school!

CCD: What was the most memorable moment of your experience?

BK: When my intern group created a horror short film over Zoom.

CCD: What advice would you give to another student about making the most of an internship, job, or other career-related experience?

BK: Put yourself out there! For most internships, how much you put into the experience correlates with how much you’ll get out of it. Talk to your coworkers, reach out to mentors, ask for help when you need it.
