Development and Production Intern
CCD: Tell us about your work experience. What were your responsibilities?
SC: For one of my internships, I worked at Dynamic Television in Los Angeles. I was reading television pilot scripts, treatments, and outlines for potential shows while also writing coverage for them. At this internship, I also reviewed materials that my company was working on and gave feedback to executives. At my second Internship at Studio71, I worked alongside the production team when they shot episodes for clients. I worked closely with the production coordinator and producer as well as the other crew members on set.
CCD: How did you get the position? What resources at BU or elsewhere did you use?
SC: I got my internships through the BULA Study Abroad Program.
CCD: What was the best part about this experience? What was the worst?
SC:I loved getting first hand experience in my major and I have already been able to apply what I learned to my classes this semester. It was sometimes frustrating to be given menial or almost no work while interning, but it is ultimately part of the job.
CCD: What was the most memorable moment of your experience?
SC: The most memorable moment was attending San Diego Comic Con with passes that I was given by Dynamic Television and watching a panel for one of their shows.
CCD: What advice would you give to another student about making the most of an internship or job experience?
SC: Take the time to get to know your supervisors and form personal connections. Don’t take the small tasks for granted.
