Food & Beverage Intern
CCD: Tell us about your internship experience. What were your responsibilities?
Serena: Throughout the summer, my duties were mainly in operations. I rotated through Housekeeping, Front Office, Kitchen and Restaurant. The program is only two years old. Two of my good friends from SHA did the internship when the program first began and hearing about their experiences inspired me to apply.
CCD: What is something you have learned from your internship experience?
Serena: This internship allowed me to prove to myself that I am capable of anything that I set my mind to. I was unsure as to how I was going to conduct myself professionally if I could not even speak the language of my co-workers. I had never faced challenges quite like the ones I faced during my time there, but I truly believe that the two months I spent there produced more personal growth than I’ve experienced in years.

CCD: What is next for you?
Serena: I’m studying abroad right now and coming back to the U.S. to work in a New York City hotel during the summer.
